On February 17th, 2024, the St. Thomas College (Autonomous) in Thrissur, India, hosted a National Level Hands-on Training in Botanical Illustrations. 22 botanical artists from across Kerala gathered for this immersive program, which began with a prayer and welcoming remarks. The esteemed Rev. Dr. Martin K A, Principal, officially inaugurated the event, followed by a vote of thanks by Delrose Thomson. Dr. Joby Paul, the program coordinator, set the stage with a lecture on "The Science and Art of Botanical Illustrations," demonstrating essential scientific drawing techniques. Participants were then guided through "Colour drawing with pencils" by Ms. Anna P. Chiramel (JMC, Aranattukara), and later introduced to "Microscopic scaling" by Ms. Sreeshma PS (Research Scholar) using a Leica stereo zoom microscope. After lunch, Dr. Paul returned to demonstrate "Plating and Tracing sketches," followed by practical drawing sessions. To inspire future careers, Ms. Sreeshma PS delivered a talk on "Career prospects in Botanical illustrations," while Dr. Paul explored the topic of "Designs from plant world."The program concluded with a valedictory function featuring a benevolent speech by the Executive Manager Rev. Fr. Biju Panengadan, and the presentation of certificates to the participants. Ms. Athira NJ, Ms. Divya K Venugopal (Research Scholars), and Ms. Silpa KT provided valuable assistance throughout the event
