The homestead is an operational farm unit in which a number of crops ( including tree crops) are grown, along with rearing of livestock, poultry or fish mainly for the purpose of meetings the farmers basic needs. Each day of growing our own food, producing our own energy and not commuting to work present an opportunity to decline partaking in the money economy. By growing a variety of crops, homestead farmers avoid economic risk. The different crop or tree species in the home garden satisfy the multifarious needs of the farmer.
