Sneharamam by NSS units of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous) 50&167

The project 'Sneharamam' was initiated by NSS units of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous) 50&167 under the guidance of Suchitwa Mission and local self government. It is a project conceived under the 'Malinya Muktham Nava Keralam' campaign of government of Kerala. The project aims at turning garbage dumping sites into beautiful parks and gardens.

As a part of it, first the volunteers identified a garbage dump place near college which was a public place near to the college road. With the help of Suchitwa mission and college management, they cleared the space using JCB and other means as it was immersed in garbage. Later volunteers ploughed the land and set up a boundary using tree trunks and turned into creatively pleasing one using rope, paint etc.

Volunteers prepared the land, collected plants from all over the place, teachers, and neighbours of college even some people give away their valuable plants as they saw volunteers working. After that plants were planted and are watering every day by NSS volunteers. Volunteers are taking turn to water the plants so that everyone gets a chance to do it.
