The
second day of ‘HEADSTART’ 2024 One Week
Student Induction Programme for I UG students at St.Mary’s College
(Autonomous), Thrissur commenced with leadership training by Mr. Sony Akkara, International
Certified Career coach and Founder and Director of EazyLink Academy, Thrissur
and Mr.Dilip Kumar A, a motivational speaker. The
speakers highlighted the importance of identifying one’s passion and interests
to achieve long-term success in their careers.Mr. Sony Akkara shared valuable
tips on how to explore possibilities in one’s career, highlighting the need to
align personal strengths with professional goals. Mr. Dilip Kumar presented the
session by giving the students many activities which in turn became an
enriching one. The speakers’ expertise and
interactive approach created an engaging and informative experience.
The second session was on self-defense techniques. Dr. Sr. Beena T. L., Principal of the College presided over the function, and highlighted the need to be rightly equipped with self-defense techniques. She noted that young college students face various risks in their daily lives, and being equipped with self-defense knowledge can significantly enhance their personal safety. The Chief Guest of the Program, Shri. Manojkumar R., Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, inaugurated the program. The keynote address emphasized the need for fostering gender equality right from our own home to the public spaces we interact with. He also commended the college for the proactive initiative.
Smt. P V Sindhu, CI., Women’s Cell, Thrissur City Branch felicitated the function and then headed over to the demonstration and training program.The demonstration session was led by Smt. Sheeja and Smt. Shiji from the Thrissur City Police Branch. The session was very interactive and engaging for the students.The trainers demonstrated real life situations demanding reflex responses, and guided in a unique way so that, it equips each person to react to insecure situations without fear as well counteract physically.
