This initiation was inaugurated by the panchayath president of panamcheei gram panchayath Under the guidance of college authorities, Women Social Workers and the enthusiastic participation of NSS volunteers, the day began with a collective resolve to address environmental degradation through practical action. The pond, once a neglected water body, became the center of attention as students and volunteers converged to initiate a thorough cleaning process.
Equipped with gloves, trash bags, and a shared commitment to environmental conservation, the volunteers meticulously cleared debris and waste from Chettiyarkulam located in Pananchery Grampanchayat and its immediate surroundings. The collaborative effort not only revitalized the ecosystem but also fostered a sense of community engagement and responsibility towards nature.
As the cleaning drive progressed, attention turned to the adjacent areas for a tree plantation endeavor. Recognizing the importance of green spaces in urban environments, fruit-bearing trees were carefully selected and planted near the pond. This thoughtful initiative not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings but also contributes to biodiversity and provides sustainable resources for the local community.
The event concluded with a sense of accomplishment and renewed dedication to environmental conservation. Through initiatives like the World Environment Day celebration, Nss unit of Don Bosco College Mannuthy reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing responsible global citizens who prioritize the preservation of our planet for future generations.
